Tree Week 2017, which is run by the Tree Council of Ireland, is a seven day programme of events celebrating trees from Sunday 5th to the 12th of March.

To mark the week, which has been running since 1985, the Tree Council of Ireland along with Coillte are encouraging the general public as well as schools and communities to take part in and support the events taking place throughout the country during that week.

For example in Mayo, award winning botanical artist Lynn Stringer will be holding a tree drawing and painting workshop in Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar from 11.am to 5.pm on Saturday 11th March.

Also in Limerick, tree and wildlife specialist Ted Cook will be holding a tree planting event on Sunday 5th in Lough Gur Heritage Centre between 2 and 5pm.
