31.07.12 - Do not forget the Golden Mile Competition !
Closing date for entry to the 2012 Golden Mile Competition is fast approaching !
As part of this competition, community groups, schools, individuals and farmers all over Ireland are being invited to highlight areas of natural and historical interest by taking a picture of any mile of country road.
To achieve a good overall score, the mile selected should contain a wide variety of features such as stone walls, hedges, old gates etc. The character and charm of the area is part of the mile.
Awards will be given for:
- Overall Award : Perpetual Trophy
- The Mile showing best potential
- Best Natural Heritage Mile
- Best Built Heritage Mile
- The Safest Mile
- The Tony Dervan RIP, award for best community effort (to include litter management)
- Primary Schools
Applications are confined to either a local primary, local secondray or local tertiary road.
The overall winner will receive a cash prize plus a perpetual trophy, and special prizes will be awarded for the best project entered.
The closing date for nomination is August 7th, 2012 at 4pm.
