National Bike Week: June 2012

National Bike Week takes place in Ireland from Saturday, June 16th to Sunday, June 24th.

The Irish event, organized by local authorities, Charities, Cycling Groups and Community Groups, will be launched in Waterford and takes place in 29 Irish cities and counties.
It encourages people to cycle rather than using their own vehicles or public transport. ‘Everyday cycling for everyone’ is the theme of the event, promoting the benefits, both environmental and physical, of cycling for everybody.

Why cycling?
First of all, cycling is good for the environment, helping to reduce CO2 emissions, especially in city centres.
It is also a healthy way to make short journeys offering all the benefits of regular exercise. It is safe, fun and reliable!

National Bike Week, sponsored by a network of partners, offers something to everybody: families, schools and companies.
