20.07.10 - Know Your Neighbour Weekend: July 24th/25th
RTE's Miriam O’Callaghan launched the annual Macra na Feirme’s Know Your Neighbour campaign recently, under the theme of: 'Don’t walk by, say Hi!'
The fifth annual 'Know Your Neighbour Weekend', which is sponsored by ESB Customer Supply, takes place this coming weekend (July 24th & 25th).
'Know Your Neighbour' is a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging people to interact more with their neighbours by asking them to organise or attend a 'Know Your Neighbour' event in their community.
Typically, neighbours have organised picnics, barbeques, parties, fun days and a variety of other social get-togethers.
It could be as much as taking the lead by organising a barbeque or some other event for neighbours, or as little as taking a minute for one neighbour to introduce himself to another.
There are no barriers to participation - everyone, regardless of background, age, location or economic situation, should be empowered during 'Know Your Neighbour Weekend' to reach out and get to know their neighbours better.
